About Star Attack '78
The firing action is a flick rather than a button — you pull back and let go, which makes rhythm matter as much as aim. The ranks keep coming down, and there is only ever one shooter between them and you.
How to play Star Attack '78
Clear every descending rank of invaders before they reach the ground.
Controls
- · Hold ◀ / ▶ to track the cannon.
- · Press FIRE (or space) to shoot — three shots can be in the air at once.
Rules & scoring
- · Each invader scores, and every cleared wave is worth more.
- · Three lives; letting the rank land ends the game.
Tips
- · Thin the edges first so the rank drops more slowly.
Retro inspiration
Spring-loaded shooters were the noisiest thing in any pocket, and the alien-invasion theme of the late seventies made them irresistible.
